Women of Faith,
Purpose & Power

The Women Wing, (WOWICAN), under the Directorate of Education of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), is a Wing of Christian Women from the five (5) blocs of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), with the aim of Worshipping One God in the Trinity of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit and to act in conformity with the Vision, Mission, Aims and Objectives of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Vision

WOWICAN, ENVISIONS a Wing where Leadership and Membership are ONE and in UNITY in JESUS CHRIST, with the vision of developing Communities, impacting governance and human rights in the Nation in compliance and cooperation with the vision and mission of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)

Mission

To Glorify God, preach the Gospel, Equip her Members for development of Communities, Good Governance and to advocate and promote Women’s Rights in the Nation and Internationally.

Core Values

WOWICAN seeks to uphold the following Identified Values:

Bible Based/Supremacy

of the Bible as authority for fellowship and dependence on God. The word of God and leadership of the Holy Spirit will guide our fellowship and conduct.

Unity of Believers

as believers we are united to be one in faith, and purpose, since we have one God, One Faith, Hope, Baptism, Lord, Spirit and Father. John 17:21.

Unity of Purpose

no one holds on her views or opinion, but considers others. Two cannot walk together unless they agree (Amos 3:3).

Servant Leadership

the Son of man did not come to be served but to serve and gave his life as a ransom for many (Mathew 20:28).

Accountability and Transparency

Leaders and Members discharge their responsibility, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. WOWICAN is open in her dealings not hiding anything in terms of finance

Ecumenism and Interfaith

Involving Prayers, Evangelism, Bible Exhortation/Studies, Demonstration of the Gospel to meet Spiritual and Physical needs of Members and their Communities.

Legal and Public Affairs In Relation

to legal matters, documents, literature, papers, publication, giving publicity to the existence, affairs of WOWICAN, GENDER BASED VIOLENCE, PEACE BUILDING IN COMMUNITIES.

National Issues and Social Welfare

including moral, social, economic, health, skills acquisition, empowerment, articulating, plan, formulate and carry out broad and benefiting welfare program of WOWICAN.

Education, Youth and Women and Children Development

in the nation and for a planned and well balanced Christian Education.

Planning, Research, and Strategy

maintaining data and information of every necessary plan and activity and also surveillance and intelligence.

Organs of WOWICAN

The Annual Convention

It is the highest decision making body of WOWICAN. This is a general annual coming together of Christian Women from every Bloc, Zone and State of WOWICAN for the purpose of Evangelism, continued education, social development of Women, Youth and children and contribution to national issues.

Meetings

  1. The Executive Council (EC) shall meet at least every quarter in a year. It may however meet as and when necessary.
  2. The Zonal Executive Council (ZEC) shall meet once every quarter of the year. It may however meet as and when necessary.
  3. The State Executive Council (SEC) shall meet every month. It may however meet as and when necessary.
  4. The Local Government Executive Council (LEC) shall meet every month. It may however meet as and when necessary.
  5. The Officers of the Wing at all levels shall meet at least once in every two months. It may however meet as and when necessary.

The Executive Council (EC) comprise of the following Blocs:

  1. Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN)     – 5 Members
  2. Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN)     – 5 Members
  3. Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN) & Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN)    – 5 Members
  4. Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) – 5Members. 
  5. TEKAN/ECWA     – 5 Members
  6. Representative from each Zone     – 2 Members
  7. Representatives from each State Branch (Chairperson and Secretary)
  8. Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chairperson and Secretary 
  9. The National Officers of the Wing     – 10 Members.

National Officers

  1. The Officers of the Wing shall be:
  2. National Chairperson
  3. National Vice Chairperson
  4. National Secretary
  5. National Assistant Secretary
  6. National Treasurer
  7. National Director of Ecumenism and Inter-Faith
  8. National Director of Legal and Public Affairs
  9. National Director of National Issues and Social Welfare
  10. National Director of Education, Youth and Women Development
  11. National Director of Planning, Research and Strategy
  12. Such other National Officers as may be determined by the National Executive Council from time to time.

These are also repeated at the Zones, States and FCT.

STATE BRANCHES/FCT of the Wing (WOWICAN), made up of Blocs in each of the States in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT BRANCHES of the Wing (WOWICAN), made up of Blocs in the Local Governments within every state.

DISTRICT OR WARD UNIT as may be created by any State Branch of the Wing (WOWICAN), for administrative purposes.
