“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…” — Proverbs 31:8 🕊️
WOWICAN stands in absolute solidarity with women and girls across Nigeria who are facing the horrific realities of gender-based violence, domestic abuse, and insecurity. From our communities to internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, women and children continue to bear a disproportionate burden of these crises.
We are declaring a collective war against female violence. We cannot afford the luxury of silence while our daughters, mothers, and sisters suffer in isolation.
Our Call to Action:
- Stiffer Penalties: We call on federal and state governments to strictly enforce and review laws, ensuring that perpetrators of rape and abuse face swift and uncompromising justice.
- Support & Empathy: We urge religious and traditional leaders to act as catalysts for change—breaking cultural stigmas and offering safe spaces for victims to speak out and heal.
- Boy-Child Education: Ending violence starts at home. Let us actively teach our sons moral values rooted in equality, respect, and love.
If you or someone you know is suffering from abuse, do not stay silent. Reach out to a local community leader, a trusted security agency, or contact your local WOWICAN chapter for support. Your life matters.
